A new pipeline was installed under the eastbound roadway on Sound Avenue (aka County Route 48)  in Greenport, east of Soundview Ave, by the town beach. The temporary patching is very poor, often below grade, leaving a dangerous edge between the patching and the roadway. There’s also loose gravel everywhere along the route, leaving no safe place for a cyclist to travel.

The pipeline continues into Greenport, a distance of a few miles. This roadway should be avoided until it’s properly repaired and paved. Route 25, Main Rd, would be a good alternate route  to Greenport.
