A paceline ride out to one of our favorite spots, Briermere Farms. We'll head east along the north loop, and return through Riverhead along the river.
We'll stop at Briermere at around 22 miles for a quick refuel.
The group stays together except for the run up CR 105 to the stop and the final run along South Street to the finish. So plan on playing nice together and looking out for anyone falling off the back.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The ride could end end up a mile or 2 over 30.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
IPlease DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...

This ride is similar to Bill's Ride. I Would like to average 17.0mph. There will be 3 to 4 places where faster riders can stretch their legs. Possibility of splitting the ride if enough people come and if there is some interest in riding at a faster speed. Break at DD.

At the end of the ride we can all go for coffee and a bagel and chat as usual, if you want. One rolling, and 2 downhill's to a flat. Up hills - let's call it an overpass and a short upgrade. The ride could be a mile longer. No worries, I know you can do it! Remember the bagel waits for you!

This will be the same ride a I did on August 20th. We will depart from Captree Boat Basin and make a stop at Tobay Beach, where bathrooms are available. Our "half-way" point of the ride will be at Jones Beach State Park, where we will take our break. The round-trip ride is just over 28 miles. Due to the fact that this is a "mulituse" path, with pedestrians, runners, and skaters (to mention a few) using it, I have posted this as a C+ ride. As usual, the pace may also depend on the winds, who is in the group, etc.
Park next to the greenway entrance in the west lot. If you are under 62 the parking fee is $8 - butfree if you arrive before 8AM (which is why I am starting the ride at 8:30); those over 62 are free (yea!).

No SBRA Montauk Century this year so we'll set out for Orient instead. I hope to get as many members as possible out on their bikes for a great fall day. Not much training time, that said we'll temper our expectations and enjoy the ride.
RIDE LEADERS: ARE ENCOURAGED TO POST COMPANION RIDES AND SUBMIT RIDE SHEETS. FEEL FREE TO MODIFY THE ROUTE OR DISTANCE TO ACCOMIDATE YOUR GROUP (TRY THE SBRA RWGPS LIBRARY FOR A METRIC ie. Calverton Metric)
RIDE MEMBERS: MAKE SURE TO SIGN IN WITH A RIDE LEADER; I WILL BE RIDING AN A- PACE.
We will be traveling in small groups of like abilities so everyone has a comfortable pace to complete this fall century. There are 4 suggested stops as follows: (38.2M) Greenport Deli, i, (66.1M) Peconic Overlook, (73.1M) Cutchogue Deli (no restrooms), (82.8M) Main Road Bisquit. You and your group will decide your stops. This is an unsupported ride as most of our rides are, so bring everything you need. Remember to bring a mask and obey CoVid protocol in effect at ride time.
I feel really bad canceling especially if someone has been planning on the ride It wasn't easy for me to do so.
This is the B+/A- version. The goal is to maintain a 19-20mph pace, an effort equivalent to 20 mph on flat terrain and no wind. Please help to keep the group together by riding smoothly. It should be a fun ride if we all keep an eye out for each other. I hope you can join us!

The pace will be 17-20 mph outside of winds and hills.
Come join me for a metric century ride from the Mattituck Railroad Station to Montauk. It is a B- ride, averaging 14-15 MPH. The cruising speeds will be 15-17 to get the average.
I will wait-up whenever someone falls behind. No one will be dropped. If you want to join me please text me on my cell, 631-655-7801. I will let you know if you are in, or the ride is full. How about a metric century (100 KM / a bit over 62 miles)? We'll launch from the South Street School, heading out through Riverhead onto the North Fork, riding along the Peconic. We'll eventually reach New Suffolk / Cutchogue, where we'll have a food stop. Then it's back on Main Road to Riverhead and Deep Hole, leading to a finishing run via Edwards Avenue and Grumman Avenue.
The plan is to keep an even pace in the paceline, so we can keep everyone together. We'll save our energy for the return loop, as there always seems to be a wind blowing from the west on the North Fork! Remember that there is more to a ride than the average speed!
This is the B- Brewery Ride that will have an average speed of 15 mph, road speeds will reach 16 to 19 mph. We will be leaving the brewery heading to the Patchogue area and then to Smiths Point.
