For all those that rode hard over the long weekend. This will be a friendly, smooth ride at a comfortably easy pace. Stop at Netties for a break and return. You should have plenty left in the tank to do the Shea hill ride on Wednesday. Please download the route below if you can. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37319922
This ride is similar to Bill's Ride. I Would like to average 17.0mph. There will be 3 to 4 places where faster riders can stretch their legs. Possibility of splitting the ride if enough people come and if there is some interest in riding at a faster speed. Break at DD.
This ride will take us around the Holbrook area, and then up to Ronkonkoma before turning around, heading south, back to Holbrook. At the end of the ride we can all go for coffee and a bagel and chat as usual, if you want. One rolling, and 2 downhill's to a flat. Up hills - let's call it an overpass and a short upgrade. The ride could be a mile longer. No worries, I know you can do it! Remember the bagel waits for you!
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
Shinnecock Inlet has great views, with plenty of benches and rocks to sit on. The ride includes 15 miles on Dune Road, with little traffic along the road. At Mile 7 we stop in Westhampton Beach for a bathroom stop. Along Dune Road there are a number of Porta-potties, and at about mile 29 we stop again in Westhampton Beach for rest rooms, which happen to be near the Beach Bakery. Bring along snacks for our Inlet stop. To join this ride, contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and date of ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 25 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15 mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.
Changes or cancelation will be posted by 1:300pm day of ride.
If you have any questions call or text Mike at 516 448-8545.
Moderate/fast paced B/B+ South Shore ride with possibly some park loops at the end. Riders will have the ability to "stretch legs" at some points during the ride with wait-ups to regroup as needed. No one gets dropped. Route changes slightly depending on weather/wind so mileage subject to +/- 10% differential.
At the end of the ride we will meet up with Mike Fiorella's group for Taco Tues at Jackson Hall (next to BoA parking lot). $3 tacos and $6 margarita's all night long!!!
No need to be 20 mins early - just be ready to ride by 3:45pm.
