NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

TO AVOID ANY CONFLICTS, THE RIDE START LOCATION HAS BEEN MOVED TO VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK.
This will be a ride leaving Veterans Memorial Park(the old Grumman property), that takes us out through the fields to Doctors Path. This will lead us to a rest stop at the Riverhead Goldberg's Bagel shop at around 19 miles.
We'll do a little pacelining along the way, but let's keep it in control!
The return will take us around Peconic Lake and then back to River Road/Grumman Boulevard to Wading River Road, leading to the finish at the Park.
It's been months since we have done this ride to Smithspoint so lets see who remembers the route. The weather is supposedly going to be ideal with temps in the 60's. So no excuses dust off those old bikes put some air in the tires and come on out.
The pace will be a B- no one will be dropped. Of course check ride calendar day of ride in case I have to cancel the ride. If the weather forcast changes or high winds are expected the probability of cancelling can happen. If the weather should effects the riding conditions I will cancel by 7:30 am otherwise it's a go.
We'll be starting from Islip Beach (try to park in the back rows of the parking lot, furthest from the water) and doing a loop in Hecksher State Park. We'll start out with an easy C+/B- with the option of stretching our legs once warmed up in the park and then on our return to the beach on Bay Avenue.
There might be a slight possibility that the mileage can go over the posted amount by a few miles...
Pack snacks/drinks since there won't be a food stop. It appears that the Key West restaurant is now open, so there's an option to grab some lunch after the ride. In the event you're interested, I'm posting a link with the Key West (Islip Beach Restaurant) information for your convenience: https://g.co/kgs/xwf31FZ
I'll post changes/cancellations prior to 8:30AM, however, since there are times that last minute adjustments need to be made; such as no available parking or other unforseeable issues, please text/call me at 631-521-0688 if you plan on joining me on this ride.
Off to Bean and Bagel, using the Grumman Trail and mostly secondary roads in Calverton and Manorville. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
Easy start out pace for 3 miles then solid B+ ride high end of B+ NOBODY get Dropped. Maximum straight away speed 21-22MPH. Finish to come in at 18MPH. Trying to monitor my HR for a few rides before jumping up to B+/A-.
After Ride we will do 3 sets of 10 Lunges, 3 sets of 25 Jumping Jacks, 3 sets of body weight Squats.
