Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

This will a paceline training ride, where we will be doing laps of the 6.25 mile Time Trial loop. So, doing the numbers, that works out to 6 laps, plus riding to and from the start to get our mileage.
The Plan is to ride 5 laps at a strong pace and then slow down and do one easy cooldown lap. The fifth lap will be the all-in "Bell Lap", where you can push it to get to the finish, but don't forget the sprint to the Llama farm! For most of the ride, the group will stay together and if someone goes to the front of the paceline and jacks-up the pace, the group may counter-attack that rider for disturbing the ride flow! Bear in mind, B+ rides should have a 17 to 18 MPH average, with a max. cruising speed of 19 to 21 MPH. So 21 MPH should be our max. speed except downhill/downwind or in that last lap sprint!
Since, this is a training ride you may get dropped! That's where the beauty of this loop comes-in, you can either ride by yourself, or take the Line Road shortcut to catch back up!
There are a few rules to remember for this ride:
There is only one ride leader on this ride.
This is a paceline ride; you may be passed on the right or on the left. IF this makes you uncomfortable, DON'T COME ON THIS RIDE, you could cause an accident.
If you are in a bad mood and want to curse at riders or the Ride Leader, DON'T COME ON THIS RIDE, you will be thrown off the ride.
If you want to argue about how the ride is run or riding technique, DON'T COME ON THIS RIDE, you will be thrown off the ride.
This will be a C ride, which will average 11.5 - 12. The exact route will be determined at the start. Wherever we go there will be a bathroom stop & a food break. Since nothing is certain until we start, there will not be a cue sheet for this ride.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you must text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact Phone Number if you want to ride, I will return the text: YES, you have a spot; NO, ride is filled. CELL #: 631-523-2129.
With a 50% or greater chance of rain Sunday and temperatures projected in the low 50s, the ride is moved up to Saturday so we can RELAX on the rocking chairs on the cabins deck.
Let's ride from Southaven to Netties again where we will take our break either on their outdoor porch or inside the cabin where we can enjoy the warmth of their fireplace.
Paceline ride group stays together. Wait ups or stops for those that fall behind.
Note: If you are facing Kreb's shop, the entrance to the parking lot is to the left of the shop. Park in the area in the far left back of the lot. Off to the Quogue Preserve, with some mileage on Dune Road. Restroom stops coming and going, and at the preserve. Bring snacks and drinks for scenic stops. At about mile 26 we will stop at a pocket park in Westhampton Beach, with a 7-11 and a bakery nearby if you are interested. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and ride destination. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
