NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

Roosevelt Island Central Park Wards Island NYC Ferry to Wall Street Battery Park Brooklyn Bridge Brooklyn Piers Manhattan Bridge Williamsburg Bridge Gantry State Park
The route is about 35 miles with about 900 ft of elevation. It also includes a ferry ride down the East River from 90th Street to Wall Street. A 35 mile city ride plus a ferry segment and stops for sightseeing and photos can be a longer day than you might expect. I hope to be back at the cars by 3pm.
Bring snacks and gels. There will be a food stop somewhere along the way. Here's links to the most likely routes:
Obviously… not your typical "club ride". This will be much more of a "tour ride". I'm very selective about the roads/paths I choose. Many will have a designated bike lane... a few might not. If you have a fear of heights, bridges could be an issue, but we take them very slow.
This is a B+ ride ... not so much for the speed, but for the hills (+ bridges) and general confident bike handling skills required to navigate a variety of advanced cycling situations. This is also an RSVP ride... and because of the limited space for bicycles on the ferry, I may limit the ride to a group of six people maximum.
Contact me (text) in advance if you plan to come. Provide me with your SBRA Member # and I'll sign you in. The ride will be a "go" even if only one other rider is interested.
Please note the new ride-start location for this year. If you need an address for your GPS, then use 42-25 Vernon Blvd, Queens, NY 11101
Destination depending on wind direction and force. For this ride the Average speed is 11.5-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition with a distance of 20-26 miles. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 8:00am. No need to text me.
This is a C pace for those NEW TO GROUP RIDING and/or RECOVERING. This easy ride around Center Moriches will average 11.4 - 11.9 for a distance of no more than 20 miles, but possibly less. We will be taking our break at Nettie's and there are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride you must text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
Riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
Time Change To 09:15.Going to Great River. I would like to come in between 14.8 and 14.9 mph +/- a tad. In order to get this average we will be doing road speeds between 15.0 and 17.0 mph. Expect down hills and wind at your back to be faster. We will take a break at the bagel shop about mile 14. Things could change slightly due to road conditions and wind direction.Pulling is always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride
If you have any questions, or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
Come join us on this scenic, mostly flat and beautiful ride that heads out from the Speonk to Quogue and the surrounding areas. Please note that we will meet in the parking lot on the east side of Phillips Avenue.
We will not be making a stop to buy lunch during the ride, but there will be a number of stops along the way, so please bring food you may want or need as well as sufficient hydration. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. I usually send a final ridewithgps file out to those that text me. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:15 on the day of the ride.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. At these speeds Pulling is Important ! I would like to keep the road speed between 16 - 17 mph and come in at an average 15 to 15.9 Good stuff after the rid
