NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Pulling is appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 17 & 18 mph and come in at an average between 15 and 16.
This is an A- paced ride. Early Birds is a faster ride. It starts at the Manorville King Kullen at 7:30. Our ride at 9:00 should be a brisk pace club ride not the Shoot Out at the OK Corral. If you find yourself pulling above 24 you're probably going too fast.
Off to Nettie's for a treat ( without a trick). Netties now has soup with a roll if you don't want cake. This bakery has a great outdoor eating area, and indoor bathrooms. We will be riding on less travelled roads in Calverton and Manorville, a few miles in Center Moriches, and will be on the paved Grumman trail for a while. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and date of ride. Number of riders will be limited, you must text to hold your place. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
A few ride leaders may be leading rides from Calverton for Halloween. I will be riding on the back roads around Manorville, then go up toward Wildwood. We will take our break at the deli outside the park, where tables and a bathroom are available. This is a C+ ride, which will average 12.2 - 12.9, depending on the winds, etc. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride.
After the ride, some of us may get together for a slice of pizza or something else (personal expense)..
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders. Text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact phone number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled.
IF YOU DO NOT TEXT ME, YOU WILL NOT BE ON THE RIDE!
Scenic ride through the Hamptons (Westhampton, Quogue, Hampton Bays and Southampton). Route will include Dune Road (hopefully with a tailwind) and we'll pass by Coopers Beach and Shinnecock Hills CC. Rest stops as needed. Possible stop at Tate's Bake Shop in Southampton (they make the best cheesecake brownies :-)).
Pack adequte hydration/food and possibly some $$ for a stop in Southampton.
Pls txt name, SBRA# and contact info. I will complete ride sheet prior to ride.
