CHANGE: Ride Start time now 8 AM, due to the forecasted heat.
This will be a C+ ride, which will average 12.0 - 12.8, partly depending on the winds, the riders, etc. Since the exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride. We will ride part of Dune Road (direction determined by the winds that day) and then take our break in Westhampton at the Beach Bakery, where bathrooms and food are available.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you must text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact Phone Number if you want to ride, I will return the text: YES, you have a spot; NO, ride is filled. CELL #: 631-523-2129.
Join me for this scenicAlmost flatC- ride, cruising speed will be around 10-11mph.
This is more of a tour than a typical club ride. We will be stopping to enjoy the view along the way.
This ride is for seasoned riders who are Extremely comfortable riding on roads without shoulders.
We will be starting from Northport Cow Harbor Park, Cruise parallel to Northport Harbor on historic Bayview Ave. Then ride through what was until 1968, the Steers Sand and Gravel Company AKA "the Pit," now a quiet bayside community of private homes and condos. We will then head out to Asharoken along the narrow causeway for a few miles. Along Asharoken ave to our left will beNorthport Bay and to our Right Long Island Sound and Connecticut. We will then head to Bevin rd with its wonderfully restored Historic Victorian Bevin mansion along with many architecturally interesting homes. On our return trip we will retrace our route with further exploration of "The Pit."
Upon our return to Northport Village we will stop at the well known Copenhagen Bakery for a snack to enjoy harbor side at the park. There is a bathroom at the town park as well as Copenhagen.
Please always check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start so we get rolling on time.
I'm limiting the number of riders. Please text me with your Name, SBRA Member Number & Emergency Contact Number. I will return your text confirming your spot on the ride, or that its full.

This will be a LOW B- ride, which means we will be coming in with an average between 14 and 14.5. The route will be the usual Sunday route except we will go to Hecksher and do the short loop. We have be doing this when we were riding a C+/B- so you know you can do it. In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We wil l take a bathroom break in the park and a fuel stop at the bagle shop
Pulls are always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Taking turns pulling would be appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 15 & 16 mph and come in at an average between 14.5 and 15.0
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction.
