CHANGED TO A B- AT THE RIDE START, DUE TO THE RIDERS ON THE RIDE!
Join me for this C+/B- ride from Yaphank to Nettie's, which will average 13.2 - 13.8, depending on the winds, the riders, etc. There are bathrooms available, as well as tasty delights! The route will be determined the moring of the ride, so no cue sheets.
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.
NOTE #2: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you MUST text me with your name & SBRA Member Number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
This is a scenic ride, it does have some uphill bits but we will always wait up. There are also some sections where faster riders can go ahead but this is not a race. Our average will be in the mid B- range - much slower going up the hills and faster going down.
There are no bathrooms at the beginning of the ride, we can stop at Dunkin donuts (mile 8) if absolutely necessary. The first bathroom is at West Meadow Beach (mile 22). Bring your own snacks and drink - our stop is at the lighthouse.
Heading out to Manorville with a stop at Dunkin Dounuts. I want to keep this ride at the B/B+ pace so if someone wants to post a B+ companion ride please do. For those that are coming please text me with your name and SBRA# so I know who is coming. 631-747-3464
A paceline ride out to one of our favorite spots, Briermere Farms. We'll head east along the north loop, and return through Riverhead along the river.
We'll stop at Briermere at around 22 miles for a quick refuel.
The group stays together except for the run up CR 105 to the stop and the final run along South Street to the finish. So plan on playing nice together and looking out for anyone falling off the back.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The ride could end end up a mile or 2 over 30.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
IPlease DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
This is a scenic ride, including great water views (Peconic Bay and L.I. Sound), farms, and vineyards (both red and green grapes are growing at this time), along with two food stops, Scoops and Grinds, and Magic Fountain. Join us for this ride by texting Bill G. at 631-356-3036, with your full name and date of ride. Real bathrooms are avaiable at mile 7 and mid-ride at Scoops and Grinds. Porta-potties are available at parks, marinas and Magic Fountain. This ride is a great way to spend your day on beautiful Long Island. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:15am.
Plan on a steady 21mph--to keep the average at the mid range of the A class. This should work well for anyone riding a faster Monday ride. Sorry for the late post.
