Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16 mph .) to produce the average.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride, Maybe.

Note: Overton allows bow hunting until the end of January … I have not seen any hunters parking in their designated spots this year & I ride with a free swing ringing bell; I suggest everyone ride with bright clothing.
Going to be COOL! Glove warmers are suggested ... no wind chill ;-) but temps will be just about 30F (below that it would be COLD ;-).
Not sure of the mileage. We'll start by riding from Got 6 Minutes and do BDs 1,2,3,5 & 6. No DBDs depending on who shows.
I am a slow rider ... we'll work out wait ups for the those who want to ride faster.

This place is almost non-technical but the hills take a lot of energy. I like hills while on the road but I'm always just about last to finish at this venue ;-( . If you want to ride slower and finish with me then come along. Slightly earlier start so the stronger guys can wait for us at the terrapin.
SBRA insurance REQUIRES that Mtn Bike riders MUST sign a Ride Sign In sheet for each Mtn Bike ride. Please text [631-988-6557]/email me at [nsamuels@ optonline.net] include your name, SBRA #, EMERGENCY # and your cell #. I will fill out the Ride Sign In sheet and you will only have to sign it.
You must have a mask on your person to ride and we will maintain more than 15 feet a part in the woods.

I plan to do most of the most of the BDs ... intend to include More Wild Turkey and maybe skip BD 5 and BD 4 More.
DEC allows bow hunting until Jan 31st ... haven't seen any hunters yet but wear bright clothing and don't park in the hunter's designated spots.
SBRA insurance requires that Mtn Bike riders MUST sign a Ride Sign In sheet for each Mtn Bike ride.
PLEASE text [631-988-6557]/email me at [nsamuels@ optonline.net] include your name, SBRA #, EMERGENCY # and your cell #. I will fill out the Ride Sign In sheet and you will only have to sign it.
You must have a mask on your person to ride and we will maintain more than 15 feet a part in the woods.

Not quite sure of the milage but initially we'll skip CR83 South/North & the Ridges and ride over to the Dark Side of the Moon extension. We'll ride down through the sandpit and cross Rt 112 to Overton. We'll do BD1 (back half), BD2, BD3, BD4 & More, up David Overton road to Got 6 Minutes and the front of BD1. Back to Glacier and the Dark Side the Moon & White Ghost.
