Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

We will depart from Captree Boat Basin and make stops at Cedar Beach Marina and Tobay Beach, where bathrooms are available. Our "half-way" point will be at Jones Beach State Park, where we will take our break. The Newsday article shows the round-trip ride to be about 27.5, so I am figuring 28 will be our distance. Since it may be a bit humid, you should have plenty of hydration with you. Due to the fact that this is a "mulituse" path, with pedestrians, runners, and skaters (to mention a few) using it, I have posted this as a C+ ride. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 20. There are a few places along the route for a break-a-way for those who wish to do so.
