DEC Permits - How to obtain one for mountain biking on Suffolk County properties

    Use of NYSDEC Managed Lands in Suffolk County requires a permit:

    All access to lands managed by NYSDEC in Suffolk County requires an Access Permit. All nonhunting activities, as well as hunting on some properties require a seasonal NYSDEC-Managed Lands Access Permit. Follow the instructions below.

    1. Go to: https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7815.html
    2. Click on “Managed Land Access Permit Link”;
    3. If you have a Personal NY.gov ID go to step 7 else. Click on “Create An Account”;
    4. Click on Personal;
    5. Click on Sign Up for a Personal NY.gov ID and create an account;
    6. Go back to: https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7815.html
    7. Click on “FormPortal” link on first line below green notice;
    8. Log in with NY.GOV Id;
    9. Click on line 5 at: https://nform-prod.dec.ny.gov/
    10. Click on “Form Finder” (on left side OR bottom of page);
    11. Enter “Managed Land Access Permit” in space until link appears below highlighted in yellow;
    12. Click on highlighted “Managed Land Access Permit” link;
    13. Read instructions and at bottom of page click on “Begin Form Entry”
    14. Fill in form, click a number of possible activities INCLUDING biking;
    15. Review, Certify and Submit form;
    16. An email should be sent to you within a few business days;
