We will go the usual route heading south using the connetquot park bike path. We'll work our way down to Heckscher Park. I would like to keep the road speeds 15-18 mph and come in at an average 15 and 15.9. Pulls are always Appreciated.
Going to Great River. Just a little slower, well maybe a lot slower than Howard. I would like to come in between 14.5 and 14.9 mph +/- a tad. In order to get this average we will be doing road speeds between 14.5 and 15.5 mph.Expect down hills and wind at your back to be faster. We will take a break at the bagel shop about mile 14. Things could change slightly due to road conditions and wind direction.Pulling is always appreciated Any cancellations will be posted by 7:30 the morning of the ride. If you have any question text me 631.484.3490.
This 18-24 mile ride will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. Route depends on riders ability, wind, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. As always newbies always well taken care of and no one gets dropped. Wheels down at posted time as "Daylights A Burnin" so get there 15 minutes before. Any cancellation will be by 8:00am. No need to text me, just "show n go".
Coming from LIE take Ronkonkoma Ave. South, just over RR bridge make 3 right turns, parking is on right, corner of Railroad AVe and Ronkonkoma Ave.
Coming from Lakeland Ave. Sunrise Hwy., go North just pass Vets Hwy make right on Smithtown Ave (following alongside of airport), just before bridge make right on Railroad Ave, parking is on left side (go past one way entrance and make 1st available left into lot).
Join me for this easy ride from Calverton Memorial Park, where we will ride on the back roads around Manorville and Calverton. We may take our break in Manorville, or at the deli outside of Wildwood State Park, or at Bean & Bagel. This is a C ride, which will average 11.3 - 11.9, depending on the winds, etc. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so please text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact Phone Number if you want to ride, I will return the text: YES, you have a spot; NO, ride is filled. CELL #: 631-523-2129.
Last minute post to see Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach. Weather seems to be getting better after 11am. We'll be taking the Ocean Parkway Greenway. The show is from 10am-3pm but, if I recall correctly, the Blue Angels (headliner) fly around the middle to end of the show. Very easy pace.
There is probably a fee to park at Captree today. I'm not sure how much but its well worth seeing this spectacular show. If you have very sensitive ears, I suggest bringing ear plugs. Sometimes those jets fly right over our heads and when those afterburners kick in it gets very LOUD.
