Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

First off, we'll meet at a ***new start location***, to get around the parkig wars: the Dayton Avenue School. It's less than 2 miles away from the South Street School, CORRECTION: it's at 151 Dayton Avenue with plenty of parking. (Thanks, Chip).

When you have a hard decision between a couple of  tough choices, you're between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.   Hmm more terrain or more miles, I think we need more miles.  And I definitely like the Sea better than the Devil...but I'm sure he'll be chasing us.

So the plan is a 50 mile paceline ride heading along a southern route to the Sea at Cupsogue Beach and then back through Westhampton Beach. After a fuel stop in Westhampton Beach at around 25 miles, we head north past the airport. Next we'll dodge a few dimpled balls, head down 51 Hill and head up to Route 24. Eventually we'll hit Grumman Blvd. and then it's down to South Street, before it's up Dayton Hill and the finish.

The terrain will be mostly flat to lightly rolling, except for the Land of the Dimpled Ball.

Since the mileage is going up, let's work together like a team. No surges and we look out for each other - no one likes being solo in the wind. AND, there will be mutiple choices, if we need to cut the distance.

Oh yeah,  Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea: https://youtu.be/iMJEtLjnO7E

Allons-y!

No bathroom at ride start but we will have a quick stop at mile 8 where there are facilities.  We will stop at Scoops and Grinds (mile 17), and Magic Fountain (mile 29) for refreshements - the ice cream at Magic Fountain has been voted the better of the 2, but by all means check them both out.  I did not include going to Nassau point but if anyone wants to add the extra miles for the wonderful view at the end we can do that too.  (an optional extra, there are also good views at the beach if you chose to stop there).

Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

We will first ride into Westhampton Beach for a bathroom break at appx. mile 8.  We will than take the Jessup Avenue Bridge to Dune Road, heading East, till the road ends at a very scenic Shinnecock Inlet.  Plenty of benches at the Inlet to take a food break, bring your own snack, and a porta-potty is available.  Returning West, we will make several scenic stops in Quogue, than head over to a pocket park in Westhampon Beach, with adjacent public rest rooms.  The Beach Bakery is a 30 second walk from the park.  Our cars are 7 miles from the park.  This is a long ride, so plan your day accordingly. Strong winds will reduce our ride speed, or change the ride substantially, as would high tides.  Check for changes the day of the ride, which would be posted by 7:45am.  To join this ride you must text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with the following info:  your full name, date of ride, and your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers so I can enter them onto the ride sheet.  Since the ride sheets are shredded the following day, I must have the info. for each new ride. The number of riders is limited, so text ASAP to get a place on the ride.
