Hilly and scenic ride with 4,000-plus feet of climbs on 3 loops in and out of Harriman State Park. Very good road surface and sweeping climbs and descents.
Parking is free before 8 a.m. in the Old Silvermine Lake ski area. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there from the Uncle Giuseppe parking lot on Rte. 110 near Northern State Parkway, where we will meet at 6 a.m. to drive up together (or you can drive up on your own). Be in Harriman by 7:30 a.m.
There are water and bathroom stops, bring your own food.
Ride is rated B+, not for average speed (it will be lower) but for the effort & bike handling skills needed on the climbs and steep descents. There is some paceline riding, but we will climb and descend at our own pace, with waitups at top and bottom. Group climbing speed will vary from fast to slow!
If interested, please contact me before so I have your email and phone number in case of changes, etc. Rain date Oct. 19.
Join me and other riders for an Octoberfest ride to Smithpoint and back. After the ride, enjoy your favorite libation at the Blue Point Brewery. This is a real level B ride, so I will aim for an average speed in the mid to high 15s.
We’re jumping on the Oktoberfest bandwagon and pedaling to Smiths Point beach. We’ll make a quick stop at Wertheim/potential for stopping at 7-11 to replenish water or grab a snack.
Bring a change of clothes if you plan going to Blue Point brewery after the ride. They have a menu, so outside food won’t be an option.
Please check back for any additional information that might be added.

This is a B ride with an average speed around 14.5-15 mph, road speeds may reach 16-18mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:00am day of ride.

Join us for a multi-level ride, where all rides will all end up back in Patchogue around the same time. We'll be leaving from the new Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue and then going to check out the brewary after the ride. Come for the ride and/or come for the social aspect of the club (no drinking required). Bring a change of clothes for after the ride and some money if you plan on having lunch or brews there. Since their new "tasting room" has a menu and serves food, we cannot bring our own food inside, as we did at their old outside location.
Any food and/or brew costs are at personal expense.
This is a C+/B- ride which will average 13.5 - 13.9 {depending on the riders, the wind, etc.}. At this point I do not know which direction our ride will take us. Wherever we go, there will be a break and a bathroom stop.
This will be a fun and fast 50 mile ride out of Calverton, like the ol' school Jim Drago Saturday rides. It will average somehwere between 20.5-21.5 mph depending on the size and makeup of the group. We will have a wait up at the top of Little Flower and a quick stop at the SBRA favorite Gas Station (at mile 30 or so).
It looks like the weather may be the best of the entire week. Hope to see you there!

Be sure to check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes. The ride mileage will be flexible, probably 30ish, the route will depend on whether or not the wind dies down, and where it is coming from. If the "tumbleweed" like seedpods are on the Grumman Trail, we wil ride alternate routes. The ride will be delayed if it is raining in the morning. Our break stop will depend on our route. Wow! That is alot of unkowns. Bottom line, check the ride calendar, than enjoy the ride.
