Getting a bit cooler this w/e ... in the 40s at 8:30 ...
Lots of folks avoid East Setauket as it has a good deal of technical and hilly sections BUT there are also milder single track sections that many riders can handle when keeping the speed down. Come along and I will be more than willing to wait if you want to walk any section that you feel is above you pay grade!
Lots of the trail is pretty wide and ticks will not be a problem unless you dive into the bush ... Also, I will have bug spray available before the ride.
For faster and more skilled riders please look at the ride level ... you will be out ahead of the group I lead that will go at the slowest rider's pace. No one will be left behind in the woods!
Check back to this posting early Sunday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
We will be leaving Bank of American in East Islip heading to Great River and East Islip area. Then we will head to Bohemia and stop at McDonalds around mile 20 for our break. The Baker will be serving dessert after the ride.
Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 15 mph, road speeds may reach 17-19mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:00am day of ride.
We will be heading out to Great River where we will take a quick break at the Great River deli. There is also the possibility of doing a loop in Heckscher park which will depend on how the group feels.
This is a B/B+ ride with an average pace between 16 to 17 mph+/-, depending on the road conditions and wind direction. The road speed will be between 18 and 20 mph.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations, which will be posted no later than 7:00 am if necessary. My cell number is 347-677-4164; call or text anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start location.
Tom is away again, so I am posting this ride for his regulars.
We will circle around Sayville, then meander toward Patchogue, with dips and turns into new "nooks and crannies" along the route. We will make a bathroom stop along the way and take our break at the deli on Atlantic. This C paced ride of 20 miles will average 11.0 to 11.8 mph and, as Tom always says, newbies always welcome and nobody gets left behind.
Let's try to keep our cycling season alive, with some additional miles! The sun comes-up, but it will be a little colder, so dress accordingly for a ride out to Briermere Farms... Stay Alive with BTO and a star from the Nifty Fifties: https://youtu.be/96NK0gebrZI
We'll do a few miles on the North Fork, to get a look at the pumpkin fields, before we head home. This time we will run a little easier pace, in case anyone new wants to join us.
Note: This will be a paceline ride, but we will keep the group together!
Join me on a l,eisurely ride out of Yaphank through Brookhaven hamlet to Bellport, where we'll have a rest/snack stop at the dock. We'll continue tlhrough East Patchogue and Medford before returning to the ride start. leader will maintain a 13-14 mph cruising speed. No one will be dropped. Call me at 631 8l46-7825 if you have any questions.
